CERN

The European Organisation for Nuclear Research is known as CERN

It is a fundamental force carrying particles of the highs field, which is responsible for providing other particles with their mass.

Higgs Boson

Peter Higgs

Higgs boson was first introduced in the mid-sixties by Peter Higgs for whom the particle is named. The particle was finally discovered on July 4 2012.

Highs Boson

The Higgs Boson is a "Force carrier" particle that comes into play when the particle interacts with each other with a boson exchanged during these interactions.

The Higgs Boson has a mass of 125 billion electron volts. It is 130 times more massive than a proton.

God Particle

The Higgs Bosson's nickname "The God Particle" was solidified upon it's discovery, namely as a result of the popular media.

CERN

CERN's primary function is to provide the particle accelerators and other infrastructure needs for high-energy physics.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and the most powerful particle accelerator. It was introduced on September 10, 2008.

Hadron Collider

The LHC consists of a 27 km ring of superconducting magnets with a number of accelerating structures.
