Important 7 Reasons And Solutions: Why My Refrigerator Is Not Cooling?

A refrigerator is the most valuable machine of every home appliance and if the refrigerator is not cooling then it becomes a complex machine to repair. A refrigerator is the only home appliance that remains operational around the clock.

Due to the heavy workload, a refrigerator may create the issue of the refrigerator is not cooling and working properly.

This problem could be arises because of various reasons like, cable cutting, damage of drain plate, socket issue, cooling problem, gas leakage, etc. that indicates the refrigerator needs repairing or replacement of the particular part.

What is a refrigerator?

A refrigerator is a home appliance machine that helps to keep the fruits and foods cool by passing a liquid refrigerant through a sealed system internally. We can understand the real value of a refrigerator on hot summer days, just like Air conditioning system which helps to cool the room.

The vaporized refrigerant then is passed through an external coil which is located at the outside of the refrigerator (at the back or the bottom). This warms up the vapor and changes it back into a liquid.

Refrigerator is not cooling

A thin pipe can be seen at the backside of the refrigerator which is filled up with Freon gas. This liquid type of gas circulates in the refrigerator with the help of a motorized compressor, through the tubes.

It passes the warm air outside the refrigerator and cool air inside the fridge. So, the backside of the refrigerator feels hot and this process is repeated to maintain the cooling inside.

Possibilities Behind Refrigerator Is Not Cooling:

1.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Frosted Evaporator Coils:

The freezer section of a refrigerator is designed with cooling fans and evaporated coils. The disappointing performance of cooling can be experienced by needless frost development of evaporating coils.

After some period of time, the fan and evaporating coils are getting covered by unwanted ice. Because of this, the circulating fan is unable to draw air over the iced loops.

This would be a possibility behind the refrigerator is not cooling properly.

2.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Defect In Evaporator Fan:

If the evaporator fan is unable to function properly then the evaporator fan stops working which affects the circulation of cool air inside the refrigerator. Because of this issue, the food section does not cool even the freezer section to be cold.

3.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Defect In Compressor:

A compressor is an important part of a refrigerator which helps to continue all the functions. The entire cooling process depends upon Compressor.

Refrigerator is not cooling

It passes the low-pressure cool vapor into high-pressure hot vapor. The condenser condensed it into a high-pressure liquid. The liquid passes through an evaporator coil for cooling down it at a low-pressure vapor.

So, if the compressor is not working properly then it is one of the major possibilities behind the refrigerator is not cooling.

4.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Leakage In Refrigerant Level:

If the refrigerant level decreases due to the leakage in a refrigerant or the level of it decreases then also it affects the cooling process and the problem of the refrigerator is not cooling may be arises.

5.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Defect In Condenser Fan:

The condenser fan is used to pass out the hot air outside the refrigerator. If the condenser fan gets damaged then it will not pass the hot air outside the refrigerator and it remains inside the fridge.

So, the circulation of airflow stops, and the hot air remains inside the refrigerator which results in the refrigerator is not cooling.

6.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Defect In Capacitor:

The function of the capacitor is to give a boost up to the compressor for the startup. But the capacitor fails to boost up to the compressor then the compressor will not get start-up and the cooling cycle will come to an end which results in the refrigerator is not cooling.

7.Refrigerator Is Not Cooling Due To Defect In Thermistor:

A thermistor is a type of sensor which helps to start and stop the cooling cycle. It also controls the air temperature inside the refrigerator. If this part gets damaged then automatically your refrigerator will not perform to maintaining cooling.

Why My Refrigerator Is Not Cooling?

Is your refrigerator not keeping your food fresh? There are various things that are responsible for the refrigerator not working. Some of the parts would be defective and some of the parts are not working due to the cleaning issue.

Refrigerator Compressor:

The compressor works for compressing and pushing refrigerant hot vapor outside the refrigerator. The fan is working but the compressor is not working then the issue is found in the compressor.

Refrigerator is not cooling

Solution: First of all check the compressor starts relay function is working or not. Because it is always convenient to replace the compressor start relay than the compressor. Replace the compressor start relay and test it.

If it is working properly then your problem will be solved, If the compressor is found defective then you have to replace it by disconnecting it from the suction line and discharge line very carefully and safely.

Condenser Coil:

The condenser passes the hot air through evaporator coils at a high pressure which turns back into a liquid.

Solution: If the condenser coil gets blocked then you have to make it clean after disconnecting the refrigerator from the socket. Clean up the condenser coil using a cleaning brush and remove the dust.

You can reinstall the condenser grill after completely cleaning.

Condenser Fan:

The condenser fan cools the compressor and condenser coils as they work. If the condenser fan does not work properly then the refrigerator’s inside temperature will increase and due to that, the compressor will overheat.

Solution: Check that, if the fan of the compressor is working freely or not. Remove the dust which is becoming an obstacle to spinning the fan. Still, it is not working properly then you have to replace the condenser fan motor.

Evaporator Fan:

Evaporator fan works for cooling inside the air of the refrigerator; you can feel that cool air after opening the door.

Solution: If the fan does not work properly then you have to immediately replace the motor. You can change it by removing the evaporator panel which is located at the backside of the refrigerator.

Air Damper:

The air damper is located inside the refrigerator between the freezer and food compartment. If the air damper fails to work properly then the temperature of the freezer section remains cool but it affects on food compartment so that, food compartment feels warmer.

Solution: Remove the air damper and also remove the thermostat sensor and unplugged the motor to change the air damper part with the help of a screwdriver. Install a new air damper to run it smoothly.
